About the instructor:

Jan McAdams hails from UC Davis where 33 years ago she launched her fundraising career. She has experience in all aspects of grantwriting, funder cultivation and project management. Since 1975 she has provided consulting services to more than 200 nonprofit and 28 for-profit clients. She has secured more than $125 million in cash and non-cash resources through grants and sponsor development.

During her career Jan has conducted more than 650 grantwriting and business development workshops throughout the U.S to more than 4,800 aspiring grant writers (Sponsored by major universities including the University of Nevada, Reno, University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of California, Davis). Thirteen years ago, Jan was recruited by the Department of Energy to participate as a fundraising and grantwriting resource for the nation’s emerging green building projects. Since then, Jan has conducted forty-eight (48) “Funding Green Buildings” workshops and in-service trainings to more than 1,800 attendees. She is the Publisher/ Editor, of the “The Funding Green Buildings Toolkit” (2001-2009 Editions), a 150-page
directory listing all major grants, construction material donations and low interest loan resources for energy-efficient commercial and public buildings. (Considered the most comprehensive resource of this type for green buildings.)

Jan has a thorough understanding of the benefits of green design and construction. She has conducted capital campaigns for 22 green building projects, securing $65 M in the last 5 years. She maintains professional relationships with major manufacturers of sustainable FF & E and Federal and State funding sources including: Department of Energy, HUD, and EPA.

She is considered a national expert in the area of accessing grant and loan resources from the 2009 ARRA Stimulus Funds. Her energetic presentation style and excellent seminar materials provide a step-by-step funding roadmap for the nation’s ever expanding green building industry.
